Despite a difficult start to the eventing/competition season we came through with quite a few ribbons! I am very happy with the way T has progressed and hopefully this will continue throughout the winter.
A new arrival is due this weekend! 15 2 hh 7 yrs failed racehorse called Royal Companion but will be known as Buddy. He is very well bred by Royal Applause who was a champion 2 yrs old sprinter. One of his offspring made the record books by being sold for £120, 000 as a yearling. Royal Applause was originally at the Royal stud at Sandringham. Buddy's dam was called Copanchi Companion, hence his name. Barley has not been sound for most of this year and Sue has missed joining us all when we hack out so she has decided to take a chance on Buddy. He has been out of work for some time and although he was in training he was too slow for the racecourse. He will need some schooling but hopefully not too much so Sue can join us once again.
I knew I would get bored this winter! (and it's another excuse not to do the decorating at home).
Photos of Buddy when he arrived and 2 weeks on. He has improved no end. Our main problems are picking up his feet, and standing on the yard.He has front shoes on but doing his hind feet could be difficult . We may need to sedate him. He doesn't have the best feet in the world. He has responded well in his schooling sessions and today he went out and had his first canter out of the school.
